What is negotiation?
Negotiation is essentially a method of dispute resolution that involves the exchange of settlement offers. The negotiation process can be informal discussions directly between the parties or more formal letters between divorce lawyers. In the event that a negotiation is successful, all parties still need to enter into a legal contract before the deal will be final and binding. In the event that negotiation does not result in an agreement, either party may pursue other options, including litigation or other forms of alternative dispute resolution.
