Emily has previous experience in real estate law, corporate and wills and estates law, but truly found her passion when she began practicing family law with a boutique family law firm in downtown Calgary. She has experience appearing before the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta, the Provincial Court of Alberta, and numerous administrative tribunals. Emily focuses on achieving solutions to family law issues in creative ways, and is dedicated to promoting positive relationships between parties to achieve effective and satisfactory resolutions.
Emily attended law school at University of Calgary and was very involved with the law school community, volunteering with Student Legal Assistance trial division, Pro Bono Students Canada, and was awarded the 2014 Grant McGibbon Prize. Prior to attending law school, Emily graduated from McMaster University with an Honours Bachelor of Arts and then went on to work in the book publishing industry in Toronto. She also spent time in Aberdeen, Scotland, drafting policy for the Scottish government.
Emily is passionate about community involvement and sits on the board of the Famous 5 Foundation, is a volunteer for the Canadian Bar Association – Alberta Branch, the Children’s Legal Education Resource Centre, the Alberta Lawyers’ Assistance Society, and an active member of the Association of Women Lawyers. Emily loves travelling and has recently taken trips through China, Australia and New Zealand. She enjoys hot yoga, advocating for animal welfare and watching British TV shows.
